Burnley-based Neuro-Sparks Business Solutions is expanding its inclusive workplace services, creating jobs and reaching more employers across Lancashire and beyond following funding and ongoing support from Rosebud.

Established in 2023 by Daniel and Val Armitage, the family-run business helps neurodivergent people to thrive, not just survive, with authenticity by providing practical workplace support. Its team delivers one-to-one coaching, neurodiversity traits assessments, workplace support and training for employers and people managers

In 2025, Neuro-Sparks received a £50,000 loan from Rosebud, part of Lancashire County Council’s Business Growth Service, alongside support from Boost, Lancashire’s Business Growth Hub.

The funding enabled the company to introduce a new customer relationship management system, strengthen its workplace training offer and recruit new team members. It has since opened a second Burnley office, which includes a dedicated training suite for its monthly courses.

Neuro-Sparks has also diversified its income and developed its work with larger corporate clients. Through a programme commissioned by Lancashire County Council, the business has supported 92 employers across the county to improve their approach to inclusive recruitment.

It has now been accepted onto the Department for Work and Pensions’ dynamic purchasing system, enabling the company to bid for work with Jobcentres across the UK and potentially recruit further team members as demand grows.

Daniel Armitage, chief executive of Neuro-Sparks Business Solutions, said: “Rosebud gave us the funding to invest in our systems, develop our training and create our second office. Without that support, we would not be in the position we are today or creating additional roles within the business.

“But the relationship has gone much further than the original loan. Martin and Amy have taken a genuine interest in what we are doing. When we have faced challenges, we have been able to speak openly with them, get advice and be introduced to other people who could help.

“It is that personal touch which makes the difference. You are speaking to people who understand your business, rather than filling in a form and waiting for a computer to make a decision.”

When the business experienced a period of financial pressure caused by delays outside its control, Rosebud remained closely involved. Daniel was able to speak openly with the team, who provided practical guidance and supported the business as it worked through the situation.

Rosebud Fund Manager Martin Emmott also connected Daniel with further local business expertise when it became clear that too much of the company’s day-to-day operation depended on him. This contributed to Neuro-Sparks recruiting a new events and marketing coordinator, giving Daniel more time to deliver training and develop the business.

Martin said: “Our relationship with a business does not end when its loan is approved. We stay in touch, understand the challenges it faces and use our experience and local connections to help wherever we can.

“Neuro-Sparks is doing important work while building a stronger and more sustainable business. Daniel and his team have used the investment to improve their systems, diversify their income and create a platform for further growth.”

Burnley has played an important role in that growth. Daniel has lived in the town since he was 14, and the company has developed strong relationships with Burnley Bondholders, Burnley Borough Council, the local Jobcentre and Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale CVS.

Burnley is the joint highest location for Rosebud’s active investments in Lancashire, accounting for 17 per cent of its current portfolio.

County Councillor Brian Moore, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Growth at Lancashire County Council, said: “Neuro-Sparks is a strong example of a Burnley business creating both economic and social value. Through Rosebud, we can provide businesses with finance while also connecting them to the wider support, knowledge and relationships available across Lancashire.”
